Change Is A Meal For Two
Pete Wheeler — Tue, 23/02/2010 - 4:26pm
I must admit that I am enjoying the presumably co-incidental and thought-provoking juxtaposition (a word I use slightly less since I took a break from Garden Design) of the start of Lent - beginning our look at 'Fasting & Feasting' - and the fact that it is 'Eating Disorders Awareness Week' - awareness being the operative word. How aware are you - really? Read more ...
Goodbye sadness hello grace
Andrew Blyth — Fri, 12/02/2010 - 9:54am
I am officially sad. I'm one of those who really struggles through the dark winter mornings. But my mood has been improving since the shortest day on 21st December (yes I really am that sad) and Spring is coming! Read more ...
Breathe
Pete Wheeler — Mon, 08/02/2010 - 11:06am
Here's a link to the video we used in 'Thirst' this month.
It really highlights how our very breath simply gives back to God what He has already abundantly provided. (You can play it directly from the site on a laptop or media streamer, or I have an edited version that you can play locally. Just get in touch if you'd like to use it.)

An Excel-LENT idea! - Part 4
Pete Wheeler — Tue, 02/02/2010 - 6:43pm
As is becoming a theme in these posts, I was surprised by how easily God used something I struggle with to speak to me. I've always found 'ritual' a bit difficult - just something peculiar to me. But God knows this, and decided to use one to take me deeper - a Passover Meal.

Haiti
Andrew Blyth — Fri, 15/01/2010 - 8:14pm
None of us can fail to be moved by the dreadful news from Haiti. I urge you to pray and give whatever financial support you can - a number of HT's Mission partners are on the ground and offer fast, effective routes to help. Mission Aviation Fellowship have planes and pilots at work and Christian Aid staff (having rescued themselves) are coordinating a variety of efforts - their websites offer details of how to give. Christian Aid also offer this prayer which we will be using in church on Sunday..... Read more ...
An Excel-LENT Idea! - Part 1
Pete Wheeler — Tue, 12/01/2010 - 2:30pm
It's fascinating how food plays such an important part within most of our Small Groups (and not to mention Alpha!). Food brings us together. We meet over it, it's welcoming and we socialise around it. Food can play its part in breaking down barriers, relaxing us and allowing us time to find commonality. We need it, it's a life-requirement. And of course, best of all, food is biblical... lol.
First Communions
Andrew Blyth — Mon, 11/01/2010 - 8:11pm
Sunday was just a really great day as we welcomed a number of young people and children to receive communion for the first time. Over the weeks of preparation, again and again, I've been struck by the fact that children have such a quality of faith. They trust God and in his promises in a way that both inspires and challenges me. I find it all too easy to come to the party with worldly concerns and categories of question when what I really need is the humility to accept that God is God -&n Read more ...
Gallery Speakers
Pete Wheeler — Sun, 10/01/2010 - 4:10pm
Big thanks to Stu Hoaen, our resident PA expert for arranging the installation of our new speakers in the Gallery.
This great little 30W system will relay the audio from downstairs, with the added benefit of an integrated volume control. (You can now turn me down to your heart's content).
