Hello everybody,
I'm just writing an article about an appeal for volunteers to help lonely
old people. Contact the Elderly has a waiting list of 20 old people who wish
to join the group to break their loneliness. It occurred to me that some
people in the church may like to help, so if you don't read the Bucks Herald
here's part of the press release to get the gist of what they are asking
for:
*
Terry Gibson, Bucks Development Officer for Contact the Elderly, says* *"Such
is the need locally to ease loneliness and isolation, we urgently need to
launch another group to cover Aylesbury and its surrounds. To do this we
need just 3 or 4 drivers to give up one Sunday afternoon a month to take our
guests to the tea parties, stay with them and enjoy afternoon tea. It's very
rewarding and a lot of fun! **Hosts are also required to hold a tea party
once or twice a year".
*
*If you have a big heart and would like to alleviate the isolation and
loneliness of elderly people living in the community, a meeting of
interested volunteers will be held on Wednesday 10th October at 7.00 p.m. *
Thank you* *and God bless
Anna
